MICareerHub is a technology-based platform established for all learners in South African Schools and Community Education Training Centres to receive career awareness, guidance, and mentorship about the careers available in the country’s economy. 

All careers, related professional bodies and applicable institutions of higher learning and training have been professionally organised for the learners to navigate and explore on the platform, and receive supported guidance or counselling thereof. 

Careers in high demand, as well as critical and scarce skills careers or occupations within the various sectors of the economy are also in display for school learners to enjoy exploration and gain awareness before deciding on choosing their preferred career-paths and professions to pursue. The learners on this platform will also have unrestricted access to extra tutoring support by subject matter experts on school subjects they may be struggling with.

Learners in Basic Education Schools, and Community Education Training Centres

The main goal and objective of MICareerHub is to eradicate critical and scarce skills shortages in the South African economy and eliminate youth unemployment. School learners are being empowered with appropriate knowledge about critical and scarce skills careers demanded by the economy and position them into future artisans and professionals who are properly equipped with the relevant skills in demand and be ready to play positive roles in the economy.

Senior Phase (Grades 7- 9) & Further Education and Training (FET) Phase (Grades 10 -12)

The learners in the Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Phases will receive Career Awareness, Advice and Guidance on:

  • Critical and Scarce skills careers in high demand;
  • Available careers and occupations in the various sectors of the economy;
  • Various professions and professional bodies;
  • Career focused Grade 9 school subject choices and selection thereof;

School management and parents who choose to partner with us in rolling out MICareer platform to their school learners will have immediate access and opportunity to participate in an E-commerce online shopping platform called The Navigator. The Navigator can provide the school or pre-school with the following benefits:

  • A communication platform for school management and staff, learners, and parents;
  • School online shopping mall to afford the school management and parents various opportunities to generate extra income for their school to improve the school’s financial resources;
  • Sponsorship of creation of free e-learning school libraries and books to support and promote national reading thereof;
  • Their school learners have access to professional career guidance support;
  • Learner extra educational tutoring support classes to help them achieve better school subject exam results;
  • School wellness programmes to promote positive learner behaviour at school, and within the communities and societies at large.

The Navigator can provide the Church/NGO/Political Party with the following benefits:

  • Church/NGO/Political Party online shopping mall to afford the church/NGO/political party leadership and members various opportunities to generate extra income for their church/NGO/political party to improve its financial resources;

Unemployed Youth

Youth unemployment within our communities is a serious economic challenge. Therefore MICareer is working in partnership with many other organisations such as NGOs and private sector entities to help resolve youth unemployment through various programs.  Some initiatives designed to help resolve challenges faced by the youth and unemployed graduates within the communities in the townships and rural areas across South Africa include the following:

  • Entrepreneurial skills and  entrepreneurship development programmes and support;
  • Providing information and awareness on various business funding options and opportunities;
  • Linking unemployed youth to professional bodies, sector education training authorities, skills development providers, and prospective employers within their chosen sectors and study fields or careers to be considered for available learnerships, internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities;
  • Work readiness programmes and placement thereof;
  • Community wellness support programmes.
